Outstanding Water Resources Extension Program Award

This new outreach award will be awarded on an annual basis. The awardees (individual or team) will receive a plaque at the general session on the first day of the annual national water resources meeting. The awardees (individual or team) will also receive appropriate national recognition that will be provided by CSL. CSL members are not eligible for this award.

This award is for an individual or team of extension professionals that have produced outstanding outcomes because of their water resources educational efforts. To be eligible for this award, the awardee(s) must have made a significant extension/outreach contribution to water resources on a local, state or regional basis AND because of their effort(s) significant outcomes must have been produced to make a difference to society. Specific water outreach education programs that were developed and successfully implemented locally and eventually were successfully applied at either multi-state, regional, or national scales would be an example of major impact. Again, the outreach can be conducted at the local, state, or multi-state scale; however, the outreach outcomes must have significant national impact beyond the state or local scale.

A track record of association with the 406 program is not required for nomination; however, the fact that the outreach efforts must translate into important outcomes gives a CSREES- associated scientist/specialist and or Extension faculty member a distinct advantage.
Nominations are being accepted for this award. The nomination will consist of a letter from a water resource professional. The nomination letter should contain the following information: (1) a brief vitae that contains details of significant individual or team outreach contributions to water resources on a local, state, regional and/or national basis,  (2) details of how the individual or team Extension program and/or approaches resulted in outcomes with significant national impact and (3) three supporting letters from other water resource professionals who support this nomination.
