young volunteers using secchi diskNew England Extension Volunteer Water Quality Monitoring programs have more than 1,500 volunteers monitoring more than 850 rivers, streams, lakes, ponds, reservoirs, private drinking water wells, wetlands, estuaries and marine environments in New England. These programs improve the understanding of local water resources and encourage individual involvement in water quality protection and restoration efforts. These programs also impact volunteer water quality monitoring programs and water quality across the Region and across the nation.
