National Water Resource Projects

This component of the National Integrated Water Quality Program seeks to provide a common base of knowledge in support of individuals and communities grappling to formulate public policy and management strategies that will allow growth and increased profitability while protecting water resources.

Watershed Projects

The goal of the NIFA National Integrated Water Quality Program's (NIWQP) Competitive Grants Program is to fund appropriate research, extension, and education efforts that are necessary to protect or improve the quality and quantity of water resources throughout the United States and its territories in rural, agricultural, and urbanizing watersheds.

AFRI Agricultural Water Resources Foundational Program

Agricultural Water Resources Foundational Grants of the Agriculture and Food Reasearch Initiative Projects are to improve and maintain healthy watershed habitat and water supply protection, reduce economic liability from water contamination, improve the quality of life in rural America through adequate clean water supplies, and protect food safety through clean irrigation and livestock drinking water supplies.

Conservation Effects

The Conservation Effects Assessment Projects (CEAP) quantify the environmental benefits of conservation practices used by private landowners participating in selected U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) conservation programs. The program began in 2003 as a multi-agency effort; lead USDA agencies include NRCS, ARS, NIFA, FSA, and National Agricultural Statistics Service. The project consists of national assessment, watershed assessment studies, and bibliographies & literature reviews.
