New England NEMO Programs combine geo-spatial technologies, educational programs, demonstrations, and hands-on training to allow local decision makers and citizens to obtain the most up-to-date information for informed decision-making and watershed management to improve and protect water quality throughout New England.
The New England Water Program uses a community-based watershed management approach to address watershed and water quality issues. This approach addresses the need for watershed-scale research, technical tool development, and education, while also recognizing that the land use decisions that determine watershed health are largely made at the local level. Within these parameters, New England watershed programs take a variety of forms, but all are founded on partnerships with state and federal agencies, nonprofit organizations, and local communities.
