Activities
Volunteer Monitoring Focus area members helped coordinate the 29th annual International Symposium of the North American Lake Management Society (NALMS), held in Connecticut October 27 – 31, 2009. With an emphasis on lakes and watersheds, this symposium was an outstanding opportunity for regional programs to share information with a national audience. With over 468 attendees, this conference had excellent regional attendance along with collaboration between the NE chapter of NALMS and the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection.
River Network is partnering with MillerCoors to award $50,000 in watershed protection grants! Projects that are eligible for funding will be focused on agricultural and water issues. This may include working with agriculture organizations, individual farmers, Soil & Water Conservation Districts or others involved with the farming community. Projects will be expected to provide long-term benefits to water quality, quantity and/or public education. For more information, visit the River Network website.
